Hi VV-
The method that you are using works well, but only if you are flying an
approach with very little or no crosswind. If you are flying an approach
with a strong crosswind, then you will have to fly the aircraft with the
runway at an angle in order to fly a ground track that is aligned to the
runway heading. The stronger the crosswind, the greater the angle. When I do
this while I am flying with a passenger, they often comment that the
approach doesn't look right, because the nose of the aircraft is not aligned
directly with the runway centerline. I often have to reassure them that the
crab angle is necessary to compensate for the crosswind. Then, right before
touchdown, roll out of your crab angle, shift your eyes to the end of the
runway, and try to set the aircraft down as close to the centerline as
possible. If you are landing in a strong crosswind, you might even touch
down on one of the main gear first, keeping the upwind wing as low as
possible. On a strong crosswind day you are ahead if you can touchdown and
stop while still on the pavement, without a groundloop.
But on a calm day with little crosswind, the "centerline between the
knees" method works well to help compensate for the parallax between the
centerline of the aircraft, and the position of your eyes.

is a landing that you can be fined, sued, or prosecuted for.
