Welcome to Big Business in the 21st century. Businesses don't exist
anymore to serve their customers, businesses exist to maximize their
profits, and minimize their expenses. Customer service is not nearly as
important as expanding the business, hoping that expanded business will
drive profits ever higher. It will all come crashing down around their ears
eventually. The relentless and uncompromising drive towards higher and
higher profits creates a house of cards, that will eventually collapse.
Sound business planning, rational business decisions, and customer service
is no longer important. The one and only consideration is to maximize
profits by any and all means necessary. And if a customer complains, they
get a very nice, perfectly worded, computer-generated letter telling them
that the particular business is "dedicated towards service to our valued
customers." Sadly, this letter was never seen by any human eyes before it
was sent.
I think your problem can be summed up when you said "one of AUS LARGEST
banks..." The bigger the bank, the more profits that they have to generate,
and the farther away from sound business decisions and customer service that
they get. I would seriously consider shopping around for a smaller, more
customer-driven banking institution. When you find one that you like, pull
every single asset out of your bank and then tell them exactly why.

turn on the landing light just prior to touchdown.
If you don't like what you see, then turn off the landing light."
